According to a leading internet metrics company (ComScore) Facebook is the fourth most trafficked website on the planet!
Many efforts have been made to market to Facebook users including Facebook applications (widgets which can be installed in Facebook accounts) and Facebook’s internal advertising programs. Now it is possible to take this a step further by integrating Facebook directly into your website using “Facebook Connect” technology.
“Facebook Connect” allows regular users of your website to log in using their Facebook details. Once logged in with “Connect”, users can easily share content with other Facebook members as well as use many of the in–built functions of Facebook from using their own account. Although this may seem like a small change, some of the immediate results include increased awareness of other social media sites, referrals and viral marketing opportunities.

More and more people are accessing the web and making purchases via mobile. According to a report by the Online Publishers Association about one–in–ten mobile web users have purchased products based on a online mobile advertising, 13% said they have requested more information about a product or service and 11% said they have gone to a store to check out a product. With the recent surge in web–friendly ‘smart–phones’ including the iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia E–Series and now the Google “android” Phone, this trend is set to continue.
Currently Japan has the world’s leader in mobile internet rates. 90% of all Japanese have a mobile telephone and almost 50% of them use it to surf the Internet. eMarketer estimates that in 2007 the number of Japanese Internet users reached 89.1 million. Japan also boasts the highest rates for user generated content from mobile devices, running at a staggering 40%.
There are a number of concerns when it comes to developing websites for mobile phones including hand–set detection, branding, screen size, format and compatibility. While newer smart–phones like the iPhone help to overcomes some of these issues, it is still important to fully understand these issues to get the best user experience (and return on investment) for your mobile website. There has never been an important time to start thinking about online mobile presence.

The current global economic crisis seems to have only bolstered the appeal of digital media over traditional media as a more intelligent, targeted form of advertising. Some countries including the UK have recently seen digital media overtake traditional media spending. One of the techniques being used allows for a much more targeted advertising campaign through the use of Search Engines. The solution is SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
Search Engine Optimisation improves websites so that they will rank better in search engines like Google for keywords profitable to your business. SEO advertising campaigns only target people who are actually searching for your product, making SEO the most targeted online advertising solution available. An effective SEO campaign generally costs a fraction of traditional advertising budgets and the results can last long after the SEO campaign has finished.
