Some technologies are brought into the universe for the good
of man, to further human knowledge and deepen our understanding of the world.

Some technologies are born to bring justice and empowerment to all.

On the other hand, some technologies are just awesome, and that reason alone justifies
their existence.

One such technology is the recent Microsoft Worldwide
Telescope for Mars, which in a likeness of Google Earth provides an orbital
view of the planet Mars in a zoom-and-pan style, harnessing a wealth of
satellite shots taken from Earth. The result is stunning, a full 360 view of the
red planet, alongside an interesting set of other view stills to a surprising
degree of resolution. Microsoft teamed up with NASA for the project, now
available online or on the desktop. Users can take interactive tours of the
planet, hear explanations from NASA scientists, and peruse the alien landscape
to their heart’s content.
