Information Architecture (IA)

Ensure the right users are getting to the right information with purposeful categorisation and navigation systems.

At the base of an effective website likes good structure. Users don’t want to overwhelmed by the content on the page. Neither do they want to click through endlessly in order to get the bigger picture. They need to find what they want easily, in a format that works for them. They need to have a good idea about where they are in relation to other pages and data, and a good idea about where they are going.

So we turn to information architecture to get it right. IA is about smart navigation, through menus, toolbars, searches, and buttons. It’s about balancing visual elements such as text and image so they are received positively. It’s about creating hierarchies that are comprehensible and easy to predict. And it’s about guiding a user through a series of pages so they users can find what they need, at a pace that suits them in way that makes them feel that all the pieces have come together.

As a user interacts with your website, finding what they want should be logical and easy. This does not happen naturally as a part of design. Due consideration must be given to the organisation of content, how that content will be labelled, and how users will find their way. Intuitive and judicious information architecture is the foundational component of any web design. Complexity and quantity are no hindrance, provided they are treated thoughtfully – Talk to Demonz about this service for more information.
