Application supports both online and offline vector map capability with clustering support for varying zoom levels and the ability to display customized markers and callouts for different type of locations, activities and facilities. Map data can be searched, sorted and filtered by different attributes such as categories and activities. Galleries are automatically created using the image data for each location.
Users can create itineraries from nature locations and share with other through email, Facebook or Twitter. Users can also provide reviews, rate locations and submit their own location which will be moderated on the backend by admins. Notifications allow users to receive alerts when a location is nearby.
The app integrates with NPWS data to provide a richer data set. NPWS national parks are currently listed in the app as nature locations with data populated from NPWS SiteCore/REST API feeds. We are able to successfully import rich content such as images, descriptions, categories, activities and external links.
BinTrim & Community Recycling Centres
Both web applications supports tiered multi-level access for different user roles such as assessors, grantees, auditors and admins. For BinTrim, the entire web application is offline capable. Any associated data for assessments and action plans can be captured offline and then sync-ed back to the server at a later stage. For the CRC web application, certain sections such as the collection and weighing sections are offline capable.
Charts & Graphs
BinTrim web app generates charts and graphs on the fly as waste and recycling data is entered. It provides a full breakdown of all materials such as plastics, organic waste and paper along with their percentages as pie charts and calculates potential and non-recyclable components in real time. In the CRC web app, there are additional features for all users to capture data such as collections, pickups, material weight data and view data captured in simple easy to use dashboard style views with support for various filtering and sorting options.
Both web applications supports the generation of complex reports with various filtering and aggregation functionality in Ms Word and Excel including the ability to export entire datasets into Excel for further analysis.

Information Architecture & Creative
One of the key features is multisite support – Warringah Council, Warringah Library, Aquatic Centre & Glen Street Theatre all run from the same single backend.
Creatively, we managed to achieve consistent branding across all micro sites yet give them their own unique look & feel. We also added support for desktop, wide desktop, tablets & mobiles (portrait & landscape modes) including support for high density pixel ratios (“retina display”) such as the iPad 3 and the new Macbook Pro.
The site also features some great workflow automation: auto generated adaptive layout & thumbnails, auto geo coding with support for Google maps, auto generation of list pages with summaries, teasers & pagers, auto generation of navigation, breadcrumb trails and human friendly urls.
In terms of administrative functionality, we added support for complex author-editor-publisher workflow process across different departments so that content can be properly audited and controlled before publication.
The council contains many different location types such as beaches, rockpools, sports fields and parks. We used Google Maps as the mapping solution that allows the council staff to enter a human readable address that is auto geo-coded and placed on the “Find My Nearest” map on the website:
Supports for semantic zooming: Markers get automatically clustered based on the zoom level
Clicking on markers brings out relevant content from the CMS
Ability to filter by different categories and layers.
